Updates

There are a few bullet items on the agenda this week - let's see what we've got...

Last week I reported that Funi had let us know that the Aquarion Season 1 Complete
Collection (S.A.V.E) had been discontinued. We'll, this is apparently NOT SO! Minutes
after last weeks newsletter was sent out I got a note from them telling me that
the set had actually not been discontinued, and that in fact it was going to be
repressed in a couple of weeks.The original note I got from them said this:
"The following item was not keyed on this PO as we are stocked out and not currently
making further inventory: FN-04579 Aquarion Season 1 Complete Collection (S.A.V.E)"
Apparently the word I misconstrued was 'currently', which I should have read to
mean 'not now, but maybe later' instead of just 'not anymore'. Uggg. So MY BAD for
not reading between the lines and fully understanding their cryptic, non-committal
sales language.

Moving on, this week heralds a very special event in the annals of Dark Horse's
publication of the Ah My Goddess! manga series [http://r20.rs6.net/tn.jsp?et=1109488023315&s=17502&e=001sW-J6KABxrMH6pojUQHPC_f8zHivXhlP--ENn20wH5k77FOx90xCGatSc6mJgaeW46UJ64m8v8pwgEnbat1xx9YV8W_RcFIFlx15lvgN3lYN7An7qwpSaJtdIhu5AJXZpP7JoT1PTOKBpZuhydLT4Q==].
The arrival of the 2nd edition version of Vol #20 completes Dark Horse's 6 year
project to replace the former large format release of the first 20 volumes with
the newer, correct size second edition. Long time followers of the series will remember
that after publishing the first 20 volumes in the old large format, they discontinued
those and started to reissue the first 20 volumes of the series in the correct,
smaller size while at the same time continuing the series from Vol #21 on in the
new format as well. This created a situation where for years the re-issue of the
first 20 volumes coincided with the new issue of the next 20, and also created a
situation where a collector could not purchase the entire series up to the current
volume without some gaps. Well, no longer. After many, many years you can finally
buy matching issues of Ah My Goddess from Vol #1 all the way through the current
release of Vol #40. YEAH!

March 11th is the 1 year anniversary of the Japanese Earthquake and Tsunami disaster,
and in remembrance the Edison Place Gallery in Washington DC is running the "2:46
and Thereafter", which an exhibition of new works created in response to the devastating
earthquake and resulting tsunamis that struck the northeast coast of Japan at 2:46
p.m. March 11, 2011. In related news, the anime fan group "Anime Fans Give Back" will host a 24-hour
podcasting marathon live on Ustream and on its website starting on March 10 at 5:00
p.m. ET. The marathon is being held to raise money to donate to the charity organization
Global Giving to help those affected by the March 11 earthquake and tsunami disaster
in Japan. The marathon's goal is to raise US$20,000 to donate to Global Giving.
The podcast marathon will host the following American voice actors and voice actresses
throughout the 24 hours: Stephanie Young, R Bruce Elliott, Todd Haberkorn, Crispin
Freeman, Maile Flanagan, Michelle Ruff, Christine Marie Cabanos, Cristina Vee, Sarah

The Box Office Mojo website reports that Hiromasa Yonebayashi and Studio Ghibli's
anime film The Secret World of Arrietty (Karigurashi no Arrietty) earned US$186,421
on Thursday, March 1 to give it a gross-to-date total of US$15,268,380, pushing
it past Ponyo's box office total of US$15,090,399. The Secret World of Arrietty
is now the highest-grossing Ghibli film in the U.S., and it ranks as the fifth highest-grossing
anime film in the U.S. The film is currently ranked at #12 at the box office.

A display for the soon-to-open ufotable Cinema lists the premiere date of Fate/Zero
2nd Season on April 7 on Tokyo MX, MBS, and other television stations. The first
