It's another happy Friday from RACS World Headquarters!
It's hard to believe that tomorrow it will already be October. We'll be closing
out the 3rd quarter today, and I can't say I hate to see it go. Looking forward
to cooler temps and, and little cosplay fun later this month, and a decent holiday
season this year. We've been working steadily over the past few weeks to get ready
for it, and with only 4 weeks left to go, I think we're in pretty good shape. Just

Sentai Picks Up Three New Titles!

Sentai Filmworks has announced that they have licensed the Persona 4The Animation
television anime series, and plan to release the show on both DVD and BD in 2012.
The anime has not yet started it's showing in Japan, but will premiere on Japan's
MBS station on October 6.
Sentai has also licensed the Maji de Watashi ni Koi Shinasai!!television anime series,
and will publish it under the name "Majikoi - Oh! Samurai Girls!". They plan to
release the 12 episode series on DVD in 2012 also.
And, Sentai announced yesterday that they have picked up the license for the Horizon
in the Middle of NowhereAnime (Kyokai Senjo no Horizon). They plan to release the
series susbtitled on DVD in 2012.
Majikoi - Oh! Samurai Girls: Kawakami City is famous for its strong dedication to
its samurai ancestors. A healthy fighting spirit is always valued and it's even
an important factor for success at school. Yamato, a second year student from Kawakami
Highchool is always with his close friends (4 boys and 3 girls). They have all known
each other since they were young and have done many things together. While they
have many other friends, this group of seven is a close-knit, inseparable group.
They even have a secret base where they meet. With the new semester, they welcome
two girls into their group and shortly after things begin to change...
Horizon in the Middle of Nowhere: 'History' is coming to an end. When humans came
down from the sky they brought with them the Testament, the guide to the path they

Star Driver: On the southern edge of Japan, the inhabitants of Southern Cross Island

Corporation, seek to possess and control the M Cell that will unlock the destructive

secret genetic experiments and may hold the key to the M Cell. While investigating

family feud. The final battle explodes in a three way battle between father, son
and even grandfather, Heihachi Mishma, the mastermind behind the M Cell conspiracy.

The online store for the character goods chain store ANIMATE has cancelled the sale
of a Ro-Kyu-Bu! T-shirt. The shirt says "Mattaku, Shogakusei wa Saiko Da ze!!" (Truly,
Primary School Girls Are Great!!). The T-shirt was inspired by the third episode
of the Ro-Kyu-Bu! anime. According to a cache for the product website, T-shirt
would have cost 1,575 yen (about US$20.50) and would have been released on October
7. ANIMATE did not give a reason for the T-shirt's cancellation. The character apparel
and goods retailer Cospa is still offering the English version of the T-shirt, which
says "Primary School Girls Are Great!!" That T-shirt is slated to be released in
Japan at the end of October for 2,900 yen (US$38).

Sales of anime in Japan were up 8.6% in the first half of 2011, according to the
Japan Video Software Association as reported by animeanime.biz. The over-all market
for video software was up 5.3% over the first half of 2010, the first upward trend
in video sales in five years. Blu-Ray, which was around 39% of all anime sales,
drove the growth; DVD sales were down.
I wish I could report sales in the US being up. In Japan, BD is driving home video
sales of Anime, but studios in North America remain reluctant to invest heavy in
BD except for top tier titles.
A 22-year-old Chinese man has pled guilty on Wednesday to five charges of importing
prohibited goods into New Zealand. According to the New Zealand news source The
Press, Xiran Zhang (pictured at right), a first year engineering student at Canterbury
University, had brought 10 DVDs of "cartoon films, known as 'anime', [that] depicted
scenes of rape, abuse, and bestiality" into the country when he flew in from Shanghai.
Don't know what the 10 DVD titles were, but I'm a little surprised. We ship a lot
of orders to New Zealand, and have never had any problems with customs there passing
our materials, even H and Ero stuff.
Amazon will begin charging sales tax to California residents by 2013, according
to the Wall Street Journal. Charging sales tax will eliminate a portion of the price
advantage that Amazon currently enjoys over brick and mortar retailers. Amazon and
California lawmakers agreed earlier this month that California will delay enactment
of a law that would require Internet retailers with California offices to charge
sales tax until September 2012. Amazon, in turn, agreed to stop its efforts to
pass a California ballot measure to stop the law, and to lobby for federal sales
tax legislation. Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos told the Journal that Amazon would not go
to court or close its California facilities to avoid charging tax.
Fortunately, we don't have any California offices. We charge sales tax only to customers
in Virginia, and would not charge it for another state even if that state required
it. They can suck it!
The cyber crime unit of the Hyogo Prefectural Police arrested Kohei Miyagishi, a
32-year-old elementary school teacher from Kanazawa City, on Wednesday on suspicion
of using the Share file-sharing software to upload anime online without the copyright
holders' permission. According to a person connected to the investigation, the suspect
uploaded an episode each from the K-ON!!, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, and
Oreimo anime off his personal computer in early August. The suspect allegedly had
over a thousand television anime episodes, each about 30 minutes long. The police
are investigating how the suspect acquired the anime by analyzing the suspect's
confiscated computer.
In Japan when you seed torrents, the cyber police kick in your door and bust you
in the head. Hell of a way to get DVD sales up...but apparently it works. HEH.

The official website for the Ikki Tousen franchise announced on Monday that the
new Ikki Tousen: Shugaku Toshi Keppu-roku anime project will play in theaters in
Tokyo, Chiba, and Osaka starting November 12. Theatergoers will receive an A3-size
poster illustrated by Yuji Shiozaki, the creator of the original manga.

been looking forward to for some time. Funimation has licensed it for North America,
