Here are the headlines to come out of the anime industry since the last newsletter:
- Sentai Filmworks has announced that the company has licensed the GetBackers television anime series. The series will soon be available digitally through multiple outlets, and the company plans to release a bilingual DVD later in 2012.
- FUNimation has announced that the company has acquired the broadcast, home entertainment, merchandising, and streaming rights to the Pretear television anime series. ADV Films has previously released the series as a bilingual DVD, but FUNimation's announcement did not mention if the company's release will include the English dub track from the ADV releases.
- The Anime Milwaukee Convention is taking place February 17-19, 2012 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel and the adjoining Frontier Airlines Center in downtown Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Guests for the convention include anime voice actors Robert Axelrod, Chris Cason, Wendy Kay Powell, and Spike Spencer.
- Niconico and Aniplex of America have announced that they are hosting an exclusive screening of the first episode of Puella Magi Madoka Magica in English. The screening event is free and is taking place on the Niconico Live-Streaming channel of February 10, 2012 at 8:30 p.m. PST. The event is available to viewers in the US, Canada, UK, Australia, New Zealand, and Japan simultaneously.
- AnimEigo has announced that the company's Yawara! DVD box set will go out of print at the end of August 2012.
- NIS America has announced that the company has licensed the Occult Academy television anime series. The complete series will be released as two subtitled Blu-ray Discs on May 8, 2012. The release will come with a 36-page artbook, draft designs, and an occult encyclopedia. In addition, four bonus short episodes will be included on the discs.
- Sentai Filmworks has announced that the company has licensed The Book of Bantorra television anime series. The company will release the 27-episode series digitally and on bilingual DVD later in 2012.
- Robert's Anime Corner Store has reported in its weekly e-mail newsletter that Media Blasters has put two of its upcoming releases on indefinite hold. Bakuman. (Second Draft) was supposed to be released on February 29, 2012, and Ikki Tousen: Great Guardians Complete DVD Box Set was supposed to be released on March 31, 2012. No new release dates for either of these dates have been set.
- Animazement has announced that director Noboru Ishiguro will be a guest at their upcoming convention. Ishiguro's credits include directing Space Battleship Yamato, the Astro Boy anime series from 1980, the first Macross television series and movie, and Megazone 23; Ishiguro is also the founder of Artland. Animazement is taking place May 25-27, 2012 in Raleigh, North Carolina.
- Sentai Filmworks has announced that the company has licensed the computer-animated Planzet film. The company will be releasing the film digitally and on DVD and Blu-ray Disc later in 2012.
- Tora-Con has announced that anime voice actor J. Michael Tatum will be a guest at their upcoming convention. His roles include Kyoya Otori in Ouran High School Host Club, Zarbon in Dragon Ball Z Kai, Scar in Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, and Sebastian Michaelis in Black Butler. Tora-Con is taking place April 21-22, 2012 in Rochester, New York.
- Pokemon the Movie: White is airing on Cartoon Network in the United States on Saturday, February 11, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. ET/PT.

I have posted two new articles to the BellaOnline Anime Site. The first is a review of the Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood Part 5 DVD set. The second is a review of the Neon Genesis Evangelion Collection 0:7 DVD. I have split the Rumiko Takahashi Anime section of the Anime Shop into two sections: the Inuyasha Shop and the Ranma 1/2.
