It's another happy Friday from RACS World Headquarters!
Jamie and I we're sitting in the kitchen working on the store site remotely a couple
days this week (and you guys probably thought we had a big IT department - yeah
right..), and as such we needed an Anime to watch while we were doing it, so I grabbed

I just wasn't sure what we were getting there. As it turned out, though the concept
is certainly flawed, it was actually quite good, so I'm glad we finally got to see

(S.A.V.E) is now out of print. Funi is out of stock and will not be making anymore,
so it's now limited to stock on hand.

For these guys, we're never sure if Funi is really going to stop making them, or
if a 2nd 'S.A.V.E.' edition will be put out later. Last year the folks at Funi
said the SAVE and CLASSIC versions of any particular title would be the lowest price
and last generation pressed, but we've since found out sometimes that's not true
either. Look, you have to take everything they say at Funi with grain of salt -
I mean, while the lawyers toil away trying to put the industry out of business

Personally, I find gym memberships a better investment for our employees than snack
tables - but what do I know?! (and no, I can't believe they actually put that video

Oh well, moving on, Bandai sent us a note this week to let us know that the Kurokami

are now out of print. The BD's are already out of stock at Bandai and they will
not be making anymore of either, so this one too is now on 'stock on hand' status,
though we will try to keep them in stock as long as possible through secondary sources.

will be coming in next week - we are almost sold out of them in pre-order too, so

And finally, I just wanted to talk a little bit about a couple of our shipping services
to help you better understand how things work here.

First, our Saturday delivery option that you see during the checkout process really
only applies to orders shipping either Thursday via 2nd day air, or an order shipping
Friday via overnight. In order to have either one of those orders delivered on Saturday
(as opposed to the next Monday), we have to add the Saturday delivery option and
pay FedEx a Saturday delivery surcharge (currently $20). I just wanted to mention
a couple of things about this:

1) Air orders get first priority in our warehouse every day. Our official cutoff
for an air order to be placed and shipped the same day is Noon (EST), but really
we can just about always get it out if it's placed before 2pm. After that, it gets
a little dicey as it will depend on our order volume that day, and the time of day
our FedEx pickup occurs. Typically our driver comes by between 4 and 4:30pm, but
sometimes he arrives a little earlier, especially on Friday, so after 2pm we will
try to get an air order out but the likelihood we can get your order in the que,
pulled, and processed before our pickup occurs rapidly diminishes after 2pm in
the afternoon, so please keep that in mind when ordering for 2nd day or next day
delivery.

2) As it turns out, if you order ordering on a Thursday via 2nd Day Air and want
Saturday delivery, once we add the Saturday delivery fee it will almost almost
be cheaper to just ship it overnight for Friday delivery. In fact, if it is cheaper
we automatically do this - so don't get mad at us when your parcel comes day sooner!

3) You do not need to indicate the 'Saturday delivery' option for orders shipping
Priority Mail or FedEx Ground - unlike UPS, those services deliver on Saturday already
assuming your delivery date happens to fall on a Saturday. FedEx ground (home delivery)
deliveries Tuesday thru Saturday in most places, and I think a lot of people don't
know that, but it;s one of the nice features about FedEx ground vs. UPS ground,
and is why we prefer FedEx ground over UPS. The difference between a free Saturday
delivery via Pri Mail or FedEx Ground and a paid Saturday delivery via FedEx Air
is that for the fee you are getting 'guaranteed' Saturday delivery. With the ground
services, you might get it, but who knows.

Right now, instead of just offering economy, expedited, and air delivery options,
we also let you choose your carrier too (except for super saver shipments). Offering
shipping via USPS, FedEx, and UPS is a pain in the butt for us, but I have always
felt like it's a nice feature to offer to customers who may or may not have a preference.
If you like UPS, you can usually get it here. If you like FedEx, we have that too
for all shipping classes. If you prefer the post office, or have an address that
is only reachable that way, we have that too, and for the most part you get to
choose. We do reserve the option to switch methods if the one you choose is not
practical, or if another will reach you faster for the same cost, so keep in mind
that if you absolutely must have a package shipped via a particular carrier, please
just drop a little note in the comments box for us.

We are also using SmartPost now for some super saver orders. Those shipments are
hybrid postal shipments that start out with a commercial carrier, and then get
handed off to the post office for final delivery at your local DDU (sort center).
It's a good cost effective service that can deliver to any address in CONUS for
a reasonable price. Each SmartPost shipment we make has 2 trackers, and we will
include the final leg postal tracker in your order confirmation. This tracker becomes
valid when the parcel is handed off to the local DDU and scanned into your mail
sort center, usually a few days after the shipment.

Seven Seas Entertainment has announced the acquisition of rights to two new manga
series, which will debut late this year. The first volume will ship in November,
with Volume 2 in February 2013 and subsequent volumes to follow. Mayo Chiki!Mayo
Chiki!, by Hajimi Asano and Niito, was adapted into an anime that aired on TV in
Japan last summer. The fan-service-filled storyline features a 17-year-old boy
who fears women and discovers that a fellow student is actually a girl. Volume
1 will ship in December, Volume 2 in March 2013, and so on.
I posted this because I'm glad Seven Seas is still hanging on as a manga publisher.
Funimation confirmed this week that it will sell the Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood
original video anime (OVA) episodes in a Blu-ray Disc collection on May 22. Funimation
revealed in October that it licensed the four OVAs, originally released with the
Japanese DVD and Blu-ray Disc volumes, and the "Fullmetal Four-Panel Comic Theater."

The Box Office Mojo website reports that Hiromasa Yonebayashi and Studio Ghibli's
anime film The Secret World of Arrietty (Karigurashi no Arrietty) has earned US$4,351,115
during the February 24-26 weekend. In its second weekend in American theaters, Arrietty
drops from #9 to #10 at the box office as it faces four new films. With 1,522 theaters,
Arrietty had a per-screen average of US$2,859. Ticket sales dropped 32.5% from the
first weekend. With a current total of US$14,508,920, Arrietty is now the sixth
highest grossing theatrical anime release in the United States. It has moved well
ahead of #7's Spirited Away (US$10,055,859) and is within half a million of #5's
Ponyo (U$$15,090,399).
Arrietty is doing really well, but it should be. Not only is it a great movie, but
it has showings on a really large number of screens going for it. Now I'm ready
for the BD release!
Swordsmiths have forged a replica, about three meters or 10 feet long, of the Evangelion
anime's Spear of Longinus for the "New Japanese Sword Evangelion" exhibit at the

this summer. The museum is in Setouchi City's Osafune neighborhood; the former township
of Osafune is best known as the home of some of the most skilled swordsmiths in
Japanese history. The Evangelion exhibit will run from July 14 to September 17.
The same museum hosted an exhibit with the weapons and armor from the Sengoku Basara
game last summer, and 20,000 visitors (mostly young people) visited.

visit that museum the next time I'm in Japan!
An anonymous K-ON! fan in Japan has watched the K-ON! film in every movie theater
in the country that showed the film. The fan collected and posted images of all
29 filmstrip images that were given out as part of the special bonuses offered for
fans. The anonymous fan also posted an image of the bonus items collected from visiting
the various theaters. Another fan had previously calculated that it would cost more
than 70,000 yen (about US$865) to get all the advance tickets with all their bonuses
for the film.

Sony Computer Entertainment (SCE) announced on Tuesday that its PlayStation Vita
game system has sold over 1.2 million units worldwide as of February 26. According
to the source, the rapid sales signify a strong demand for the "ultimate portable
entertainment system." SCE also announced PS Vita software sales have surpassed
2.0 million units worldwide "at both retail and on PLAYSTATION Network." The PS
Vita launched in Japan on December 17. As of February 22, it has also launched in
Hong Kong, Taiwan, South Korea, North and Latin America, Europe and PAL territories,
and Singapore.
Does anyone have a clue why that thing is the same price as a full sized PS3 console,
and why anyone would pay that much for a hand held? I'm thinking $129....
