Windows XP may be the last Microsoft operating system to hold a majority share, according to data from Web metrics company Net Applications. At its peak, Windows XP powered more than eight out of every 10 computers worldwide. Informatica adds support for 'big data,' Hadoop
Informatica is joining the growing ranks of vendors moving to support Hadoop, the open-source framework for large-scale or "big data" processing, the company announced Monday. The 9.1 version of Informatica's platform features a connector to the Hadoop file system (HDFS), allowing customers to move data in and out of Hadoop clusters. Read More

First tablets with Intel's Oak Trail processor ship
The first tablets based on Intel's processor code-named Oak Trail started shipping late last week, with the initial models targeted at businesses. Fujitsu's Q550 and Motion Computing's CL900 tablets have Intel's Z670 processor and Microsoft's Windows 7 operating system. The tablets have 10.1-inch screens and provide eight hours of battery life.
